PICK UP/DROP OFF SERVICES
As part of any Pick-Up / Drop-Off Service, you will be required to submit certain details regarding your requested Laundry Services to Lessen the Loads (and its applicable Laundry Specialists, as needed), including but not limited to your address or location, requested times and dates, Payment Information (as defined below), and other relevant parameters and details as requested through the Platform (collectively, “Client Information”). You represent, warrant and covenant that all associated Client Information that you submit to the booking form (hosted through Jotform) is complete, true and accurate, and does not omit any fact or information that would be required to make the Client Information not misleading. You agree that (i) such Pickup Request constitutes an irrevocable offer by you to purchase Laundry Services from a Laundry Specialist through the booking form (hosted through Jotform) in accordance with these Terms; (ii) you may be automatically charged (or required to initiate payment for) a certain amount as a “pre-authorization” by our designated payment processor (i.e., Jobber) via the payment method you selected through the Platform; and (iii) any associated Client Information submitted by you is complete, true and accurate.
LAUNDRY TRANSPORT / DROP-OFF
We do our best to protect your laundry from the elements by providing our water-resistant bags for purchase ($8/bag). We highly suggest purchasing one of our bags. Since we have put email and text reminder tools in place to alert you when laundry is on the way back to be delivered, Lessen the Loads and its applicable Laundry Specialists cannot be responsible for laundry affected by extreme weather conditions once it has been dropped-off. This includes but isn’t limited to rain, wind, snow, sleet, hail, flooding, etc. In addition, Lessen the Loads and all applicable Laundry Specialists are not responsible for the theft of any items either.
SNOW DAYS & WEATHER EVENTS
In extreme weather conditions, for the safety of your Laundry Specialist, we may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment with little to no notice. In winter, please have your walkways cleared of ice and snow to avoid any accidents. We understand that is not always possible, so please contact us ahead of time so we can let the Laundry Specialist decide if they’d like to come at a later time. Please know that if we arrive and are unable to access your property safely, a $25 missed appointment fee will be charged accordingly.
MISSED PICKUPS
We have put email and text reminder tools in place to remind you to put your laundry out for pickup. In the event that you would forget to leave your laundry out, we will charge a missed pickup fee ($25) to cover the cost of a laundry specialist going to your home.
CANCELLATION
You may cancel the Laundry Services in writing through email, text or call, at any time prior to the Laundry Specialist initiating such Laundry Services; provided that if you cancel after the Laundry Specialist has is in transit to your residence, then Lessen the Loads will charge you the cancellation fee of $25 as mentioned in these Terms. It is the burden of the Laundry Specialist to show proof of being in transit at the time the cancellation is communicated by the Client. Once the Laundry Specialist has arrived at your residence, you may not cancel, and will be responsible for the entire fee as set forth and previously agreed by you and in accordance with these Terms.
24-HOUR CANCELLATION REQUIREMENT
To ensure fair scheduling for all clients, we require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with insufficient notice will have the deposit retained as a cancellation fee, and it will not be refunded or applied to future appointments.
MINIMUM WEIGHT
Please note that we require a minimum order of 25 pounds for pick-up service (i.e. the equivalent of two large laundry baskets). If the minimum is not met upon pick-up, you will be invoiced for 25 pounds. If you include a bulk item (Examples include but not limited to: rugs, heavy curtains, pillows, comforters, duvet covers, quilts, etc.) we will add an additional $8 bulk charge per item. ANYTHING requiring a solo load at the discretion of the laundry specialist in order to not risk damage to other items in your order will incur a bulk charge.
TURNAROUND TIME
Our standard turnaround is within 24hrs from the time the laundry is picked up, unless any items require additional drying time or special care. Please note: If your laundry weight exceeds 75 pounds we may require additional processing time, and you will be notified with an updated completion estimate accordingly.
WEAR & TEAR
All laundering processes, regardless of how gentle, cause normal wear and tear on clothing. As a result, we are not responsible for any natural signs of clothing aging, including but not limited to loss of buttons, fading, fatiguing, holes, or abrasions. Similarly, Lessen the Loads & any applicable Laundry Specialists reserve the right to decline washing any particular piece of laundry if deemed potentially detrimental.
COLOR BLEEDING
You can count on whites and colors always being separated but some fabrics naturally release dye when washed, which may transfer to other items. A common example is new jeans or tie-dyed garments. This can happen with any laundering process and is not something we can prevent entirely. If you have a delicate or brand-new item that may be prone to bleeding, please let us know ahead of time and we make sure that information is available to your Laundry Specialist! However, we strongly suggest keeping these items at home. If you’d like us to wash your new denim or tie-dye solo, it will incur an $8 solo-wash fee.
ITEMS LEFT IN POCKETS
We do our best to ensure all items are retrieved from pockets prior to washing and are returned with your laundry upon completion of your service. However, Lessen the Loads and applicable Laundry Specialists DO NOT take responsibility for any items that may have been left behind such as (but not limited to) credit/debit cards, watches, jewelry, cufflinks, money, wallets, headphones, etc. and shall have no liability for such items. To ensure the best care, we recommend double-checking pockets before sending in your laundry.
SHRINKAGE
Certain fabrics naturally shrink over time when washed and dried. Lessen the Loads Laundry Specialists use cold water and the lowest heat settings to minimize shrinkage. However, the fabric type, garment construction, and age of an item all play a role. Because shrinkage is a natural occurrence, we are unable to take responsibility for it.
ALLERGIES
Clothes are washed in machines in which other detergents may have been used. As such, it is possible that small amounts of other detergents, which may not be hypoallergenic, remain in the machines. Lessen the Loads is not responsible for any allergic reactions that may occur.
UNSCENTED DETERGENT NOTICE
While we offer laundering with unscented detergent upon request, items may still retain traces of fragrance from previously used scented products, perfume/colognes, etc. We cannot guarantee a completely fragrance-free result.
In-Home Organizations & Fold + Put Away + LME
PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
To help us serve you in the most efficient and professional way possible, please ensure that floors are cleared and there is a space for your Laundry Specialist to walk around without hazard. If they encounter excessive clutter or trash, they may not be able to fully complete your service.
For in-home fold and put away appointments - your laundry MUST be out in a visible location that is suitable for folding (table, bed, desk, counter, etc). The Laundry Specialist reserves the right to bring any supplies that they need to complete the service, including but not limited to a folding device and/or table. The Laundry Specialists who accepted your service will not attempt to figure out what is clean vs dirty. It should be very clear what needs to be folded and put away.
PET POLICY
To ensure everyone's safety, please secure pets away from all Laundry and Organizational specialists during your appointment.
NO OTHER WORKERS ON-SITE
To maintain safety and to be able to provide the service you booked in its entirety, we cannot perform services if other professionals (like painters, movers, plumbers) are working in your home. If we arrive and can’t proceed, your deposit (if applicable) will be forfeited and you’ll be charged the full appointment fee. Consequently, Lessen the Loads is not responsible for any issues that may arise between a Laundry Specialist and other workers. You take full responsibility as the homeowner to provide a safe working environment.
INITIAL ORGANIZATION APPOINTMENTS
If organizing your space takes longer than expected, we’ll pause mid-session to check if you'd like to extend. If you are not reachable we will NOT extend the duration of the appointment. We do our best to give you the most accurate estimate PRIOR to coming but sometimes the amount of clothes or clutter is not fully visible via the photos you send. If you’d prefer not to extend the appointment time, we’ll do as much as we can during the booked time, and full payment will still be due. We will coordinate another time for the Organization Specialist(s) to come back to complete the project for an additional cost, if desired.
GENERAL
CUSTOMER CREDITS & GRIEVANCES
If any issues arise, we’re happy to review them on a case-by-case basis. To ensure prompt assistance, grievances must be raised within 24 hours of service completion to allow for a proper investigation of the grievance. Please include photographic evidence documenting the issue when contacting us. Without photos, we may be unable to process your grievance or consider any payment remittance. Any credits, adjustments or offer to redo the laundry are at the discretion of Lessen the Loads, and while we always aim for customer satisfaction, they are not guaranteed.
PARKING
If your in-home service requires the laundry specialist to utilize a parking facility that charges fees, any applicable parking fees will be added to your invoice.
USE OF LAUNDRY SPECIALISTS
State or local ordinances may require certain specified Laundry Services to be performed by licensed professionals. Lessen the Loads does not license service providers, nor does it oversee or scrutinize the posting, scoping or accomplishment of Laundry Services. Laundry Specialists are encouraged to consult their state or local requirements to determine whether certain Laundry Services are required to be performed by a licensed professional. Laundry Specialists are responsible for obtaining and maintaining necessary licensure to perform Laundry Services in jurisdictions that require it.
Lessen the Loads does not provide any supervision of Laundry Specialists. Laundry Specialists are solely responsible for the performance of their Laundry Services.
While we try to accommodate your request for preferred Specialists, their availability isn’t guaranteed as they have full ability to accept or decline any service they are offered through the Lessen the Load’s platforms. If a specific Laundry or Organization Specialist isn’t available and the appointment is rescheduled solely for that reason, a $25 missed appointment fee will apply to compensate the Laundry Specialist who accepted your service but did not work.
SOCIAL MEDIA PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE
Photos of your laundry may be taken for promotional purposes. There will never be any identifying information in the picture, nor would we ever disclose names. If you wish for us to not use your clothing in photos, simply let us know.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS or LATE RESCHEDULE
We have put email and text reminder tools in place to remind you of when you can expect our team member to arrive; in the event that you would miss your scheduled appointment date and time, or cancel/reschedule within 24 hours (or less), you will be charged a one-time $25 fee.
LATE PAYMENTS
All payments are due upon receipt of the invoice. If payment is not received with 24 hours of service, a $10 late fee will be applied and your card on file will be charged. If declined, additional fees of $10/day will ensue. Future appointments will be cancelled if your account is not in good standing 24 hours before your next appointment.
CREDIT CARD SURCHARGE
We impose a 3% surcharge on credit cards which is not greater than our cost of acceptance. If you would prefer to avoid this fee, you may opt to pay via ACH.
ACH PAYMENT TERMS
Clients may choose to pay by ACH. However, if an ACH payment is returned, declined, or otherwise unsuccessful, the client agrees to remit payment immediately (within 24 hours) via credit card. Applicable processing fees will be added to the final balance.
